Former Raiders With Great Seasons
Several former Raider soccer players are still in the midst of stellar seasons with their University clubs. STA has always been home to outstanding athletes that go on to compete at the University and College level across all sports, but this year our former soccer standouts continue to, well, stand out.
Taryn McKenna (class of 2009) helped Aquinas to three Halton Championships as well as OFSAA gold and silver. She followed in the goalkeeper footsteps of older sister Kate (also an Aquinas grad) who also earned silver at OFSAA and was also a University keeper (Queens.) Taryn now has led her Dalhousie Tigers to an Atlantic University Sport (AUS) championship after a 9-3-1 season. Starting in 11 games, McKenna posted a 0.76 Goals Against Average. The Tigers now have moved on to the Womens CIS Soccer Championship at McGill starting today. The Tiger’s unfortunately lost their quarterfinal game vs Ottawa today and will move to the consolation round tomorrow.
Paterson Farrell (class of 2010) is a striker on the McMaster men’s soccer team. Farrell was key in the final over UofT as he scored twice in the 3-1 win. His performance earned him an OUA player of the week award. Paterson was also critical in leading the Aquinas boys soccer club to several Halton championships and OFSAA performances. With McMaster he went 10-2-4 in league play. McMaster opens the Mens CIS Soccer Championships in Victoria vs. Cape Breton at 4:40pm today.
Victoria Miliucci (class of 2008) was a four year starter for Aquinas soccer, also winning OFSAA medals with then teammate Taryn McKenna. Miliucci joined the Florida International University (FIU) Panther’s when they were struggling. Miliucci helped rebuild the team and this year lead them to a Sun Belt Conference Championship. This beings FIU back to the NCAA tournament after finishing 13-6-3 in regular season before claiming the Sun Belt Championship. Miliucci and the Panthers open the NCAA tournament on Friday vs. the UCF Knights.
Cassandra Russo (class of 2008) narrowly missed claiming a Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) title with her Mississippi State Valley University Devilettes after losing 3-0 in the championships. The Devilettes were not able to complete their Cinderella run that had them win twice on penalty kicks to get to the finals. The Devilettes will miss out on competing at the NCAA Championship (Div I.)
Miliucci, McKenna, and Russo all played together for Aquinas in 2007 and 2008.

This is so nice. Thanks for keeping your former raiders in mind!
Well we appreciate what our former students accomplished while they were here, as well as being proud of what they have done (and will do) since they have left.
