Stand Tall

Have you ever had that one feature that made you stand out from the rest, a feature that you couldn’t erase even if you tried it. Well Tall Girl is one of those movies. Directed by Nzingha Stewart, written by Sam Wolfson Starring Ava Cota, Sabrina Carpenter, Luke Eisner and more.

This movie takes us on the adventure of 16 year old Jodi Kreyman, the tallest girl in school. The story follows her burgeoning feelings about boys, her height and her struggle with self-acceptance. The tallest girl in high school falls for a handsome foreign exchange student. She becomes embroiled in a surprising love triangle and realizes she’s far more than her insecurities about her height have led her to believe.

The ideals of Tall Girl are not the best and many dislike the movie for being a cliche, ignorant and irritable.

I would like for this to be the header but I think that it is too big

A controversial line is “You think your life is hard, I’m a high school junior wearing size thirteen nikes. Men’s, size thirteen nikes.” Jodi states. This caused some backlash that gave bad reviews about the movie.

“There are people being hated for sexuality and race and Netflix decides to make a movie on being tall?”- Anonymous

“I feel that it is inaccurate, cheesy and exaggerated because I have a friend who is 15 and 6 feet as well”- Liza Kaluzhni, Grade 10

“I believe that people hate just to join the bandwagon, it was an excellent movie and I love Sabrina Carpenter”- Anonymous

“Tall Girl was your typical high school movie but worse. It made no sense, I couldn’t finish it” – Toni, Grade 10

In my opinion Tall Girl took very underated topic and it made it entertainemt. Whether it was good or bad, I feel like it spoke to many people and was better than some of the stuff that Netflix releases. No spoilers but the ending was genius!
